Phoenix Feathers

Prologue  A million things could go through your head. Slam on the brakes. Brace yourself. Shield your little sister. All of these are the options I was presented with as the car hit a patch of ice and we went spinning towards the bridge railing. But I couldn’t bring myself to do any of those things. I could hear myself scream, along with my sister, but I didn’t watch   as the concrete broke and the water consumed us. I didn’t watch as my head, along with my sister’s, hit the dashboard. My eyes were tight shut. I couldn’t bear to watch us go toward our death. I gave up. But it didn’t matter. W

Dark Light: Part 7I don’t feel real.  
 
My legs feel like jelly and my hands feel to big for my body. My teeth feel fuzzy, like I’ve been sleeping for a very long time. The world seems to be spinning, even though my eyes are closed. I can’t think. Everything is moving too slowly.  
 
Nothing makes any sense any more.  
 
My eyelids drag themselves open, my pupils burning at the light in the cavern. It’s not a lot of light, just a couple of torches along the walls in the huge space, but it’s enough o leave me breathless. I flex my fingers and they feel huge but utterly weightless. ink stain fingerprintsbooks are for rainy days and broken hearts  when life sucks retreat into the pages  to a world where your life doesn't seem so bad  filled with adventure, life, love, and all things in between.  like fingerprints these ink stains bewilder me  and suddenly I'm running for my life  laughing in the face of danger.  one minute i'm screaming my lungs out  the next i'm with him, kissing in the rain.  when the wind blows it flips the injured pages  faded prints flashing by in the movie screen of my mind.  these sudden happenings take me by surprise  and i'm laughing, crying, beating my hear ink stain fingerprints

, ready for the showI'm a diehard performer. what else can I say?  I live for the stage and breathe for the camera.  I dream in black and white, and on occasion  I think in technicolor TV screens.  I sing into the padded microphone.  And speak through the ink on the page.  I run through the night darkness  and walk through the light of day.  I smile for the camera snap  and frown for the feeling  these flashing lights cause spots in my eyes  and I know that I am both hated and loved by all  this fame, this fortune, this provincial life  is far more provincial when you're living it  yet it's wh , ready for the show

Dark Light: Part 6They are waiting at the mouth of the alley. They are dressed in normal clothes, but beneath that is rotted flesh. I'm sure that my mother is the most beautiful of them all. Don't get me wrong, my mother was never gorgeous, but in comparison, she is celebrity material. She has yet to completely rot away. I'm sure beneath the milky white skin and fading eyes is soft decomposing organs, but on the surface, she is not a monster.  
 
"She looks delectable." One of them mutters, a tooth waggling in his mouth. They look hungry and fear runs through me again. I feel Ethan's assuring hand on my back, though and I swallow that fear.

I have started on them, but they won't be done for a while. I didn't expect so much hw. Stupid teachers. I'm hoping to have at least two of them finished by the end of this weekend.

No lie. I'll really do it. I need to get to work on my arting skills so ask for sketches and I will be happy to oblige. Leave a description of what you want though. Lots of love!
